Grateful for another year

Grateful for another year

Today has physically and mentally been a long day. Even though it didn’t turn out the way I imagined, I’m so grateful for another year. You see, today is my birthday. 25 years ago my life started and I’m so grateful to have turned 25. Even though the number always scares me a little bit every year. But the thing is – I don’t feel 25. I guess it’s because I had this imagine of how 25 would feel and look like from a young age. And now that it has arrived, I don’t feel a day over 20, maybe 21. It’s like time stopped 5 years ago, even though it didn’t.

My plans today were having a huge breakfast, taking my son to daycare and then continuing the day with my daughter. I planned to meet my mum and we would have coffee and cake. I would take her home to my house and cut her hair, pick up my son and start dinner. I wanted my brother to come visit us and we would all have cake together, and maybe I would open some presents. All of this never happened because it couldn’t. And even though we plan, God plans as well and He is the Best of Planners.

Today didn’t happen has I imagined but I’m still so grateful for the family I’ve got, for my two healthy children who even at hard times bring a smile to my face, and for another year. God willing, I will have many more to come with my family by my side.

A wonderful day

A wonderful day

The last couple of weeks have turned into a blur. All merged into one. I don’t even remember when one stops and the next one starts. I fill my day with tasks & goals so that my time won’t be left meaningless. The one thing I wish I had more of – time. Whilst I know my time is ending, the time of my children are just beginning, God willing. But that makes days like these so much more valuable.

I started my day off like I always do – enjoying a homemade breakfast with my son. Around noon I jumped in the car with my daughter to drive and pick up my friend from work. We enjoyed our afternoon outside, finding a cute cafe were we could sit and chat for a while. The day only got better when we decided to buy two baskets of strawberries and then swing by at home to get my son. Norwegian summer doesn’t last very long so when the weather is good you’ll find most people at the beach, where we also ended up. Even though it took a while to get used to the cold water, it was still nice.

A day to remember. Now I’m hoping that my daughter will fall asleep soon so that I too can catch some Zzzz. Good night.

The yearly autumn flue

The yearly autumn flue

The last couple of days I've been roaming around at home, having 'Fuller House' as a background noise while I looked after my baby and myself. We've been sick since Monday, sneezing every two seconds, wrapped in blankets and wool clothes. Sleep is definitely the best medicine and hot lemon tea with honey.

On another note, my brother had his birthday on Tuesday so I tried myself out in the kitchen and made an (almost) vegan cake. Some ingredients I didn't even find in the store so I had to use my regular non vegan supplies.

Today we're back to drinking lemon tea, cuddling up on the sofa and trying to get rid of the yearly autumn flue.

Birthday

If you follow me tumblr @ mylifelizabeth, you know that my birthday was about a week ago. I turned 20, which is surreal for me. God willing I will have another 20 years ahead of me. I cannot start to write all the amazing opportunities I have had growing up, because let’s face it, I am and adult now. I cannot say I have anymore growing up to do in the form from being a child to an adult. Because when you are 20 you are an adult. Even when you turn 18 here you are an adult. But for me, turning 20, is even more so because you are no longer a teen. I’m heading towards 30.. ok, I just scared myself.

Moving on and not thinking about what age I’ve become, I can tell you what generous gifts I got. First of, those brownies on the left are home-made and absolutely delicious. Do you want the recipe? To the right are some roses I got from my mum, and after this birthday I think I will get a lot of flowers on my next birthdays. And to the last picture is the best gift I could ever wish for and never in a million years thought I would get. My family was so generous that they bought me a MacBook Air! It’s surreal even though I’m typing on it right now. I’ve fallen in love with all the Mac products and this is just another addition to my Apple family.

This year was the first year I worked on my birthday but we had a little celebration last Saturday and my family had more surprises up their selves than I thought. We ate good food, cake and I got more presents including flowers. Unfortunately my camera didn’t come to much use, but that is definitely something I want to work on.

Have a great evening.

Day 6: Early birthday celebration

Day 6: Early birthday celebration

Today I got spoiled with cake, gifts and food. Since we’re leaving tomorrow for Italy we had an early birthday celebration with the closest family. I really didn’t ask for anything other then a couple of things I order weeks beforehand from Amazon. But I did wish for a cake which I got and it was by far the best cake I’ve tasted in a long time. And it was no other then a NUTELLA cake, like seriously.. that there just needed caps lock cause I didn’t even know it was possible. But Oma did it so good but I couldn’t manage more then one piece.

We had dessert before dinner and after opening some presents we ate chicken and three well made salads.

In the evening I finally got to drive our rented car up to Hohenpeissenberg where we saw the most beautiful sunset on the way down. I’m totally in love with sunsets because it’s such a beautiful end to a day. And every sunset I see always gets more beautiful which is hard to believe is possible, because just look at this..

And of course the ‘Kicker’ had to find it’s way out from the garage so it could be played on a couple of times.

Now I’m almost done packing for tomorrow and I’m so tired I’m about to fall asleep so I’ll end it here.
