Deuxième jour à paris

Deuxième jour à paris

12th of March 2019 – The Eiffel-tower, food & rain

After an almost sleepless night we finally woke up at around 7 am. I was hoping to be able to sleep in on this mini vacation but I guess my mind and body had other plans. We were well excited to finally have a great buffet breakfast awaiting us. But we were unfortunately very surprised when all we got was 1 coffee, a glas of juice, 1/2 a baguette and 3 sweet pastries with only jam and butter as toppings. Was this a normal french breakfast? Disappointed after spending a large amount of money at this hotel with a breakfast included, we had no choice but to settle with what we got.

It was only 10 am so we decided to take a morning walk around the block. The sun was shining yet again to our delight and we were thrilled to see spring arriving. We were both starving after an hour so we sat down at a little cafe for an early lunch.

Back at the hotel I rested my feet before we decided to take an adventure to the Eiffel-tower – 6 km away. A mission to accomplish, especially at 7 months pregnant. We took our map as help and walked alongside the Seine. Halfway there we had to take a break and warm up since the wind was especially strong today. A coffee later we made our last effort to the infamous landmark.

A sight to see for sure – such a beautiful landmark to visit. Even though the top floor was closed that day, we enjoyed the view from below. After some admiration we found a restaurant – ‘Cafe Gustave‘ – where we enjoyed a well earned dinner before we took a taxi back to our hotel.

A gold cup of coffee

A gold cup of coffee

Yesterday was a lovely, relaxing Friday. I actually love the beginning of the weekend, starting my Friday of by listening to Surah Al-Kahf. I felt a little bit extra after filming my Sunday video so I pampered up and went out to the playground. My son loves it there and he’s become so active, wanting to walk around everywhere. After an hour there we made our way back home.

His nap was long over due so I tucked him in and started making dinner. In the evening again we made our way to his grandfather aka my father. He always starts of really shy but when he’s warmed up and used to the environment he is his own self – playing, walking and talking.

This was yesterday brunch, sipping a cup of coffee from my new gold mug. My mum wanted to spoil me a little when we were out shopping on Wednesday, and even though I actually didn’t need these cups, they looked so inviting and great for pictures. So I got two and they have both already been in use.

Today I’m thinking about talking a stroll out to the playground again but first I have to edit tomorrows video. I’ll be sharing my tips on how I lost my baby weight and how to start working out again after having a child. After that video I’m done with baby talk for a while and will be back making ‘day in the life’ or fashion/beauty related videos.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Autumn flowers light up my day

Autumn flowers light up my day

The weekend is upon us and even though I’ve had Friday feeling since Tuesday, I’m definitely going to enjoy this weekend. Tomorrow I’ll have a couple of hours to myself which hopefully I’ll be able to enjoy to the fullest. Hair appointment, coffee, running errands – well, running is the last thing I want to do on my day ‘off’.

Fresh flowers for the weekend is starting to become a priority even though I’ve been so lucky to get the last couple of flowers from my wonderful and loving mum. It does something with your mood when you wake up and see beautiful fresh colors shine throughout your living room.

My sons cousin also has his first birthday tomorrow so I have to get something for him. Even though I have no idea what that’s going to be.. I guess I have to brainstorm a little. And tomorrow evening we’ll be visiting him and his family.

Have a great weekend, hope it treats you well!

The weight of the world on my shoulders

The weight of the world on my shoulders

I’m already on my second cup of coffee which I usually never drink but today it’s absolutely nesaccary. With only 8 hours of interrupted sleep and a nap where I couldn’t even snooze off for two minutes, it’s safe to say I’m very tired. My body is so stiff and I feel this heavy weight on my shoulders. Probably a mix of stress, too little sleep and in much need of a long massage.

Having a 7 month baby is so much more work then what it was four months ago. I love every minute spent with my son, but I feel like I’m running on my last battery here. When and how I will be able to recharge will only be shown in the future. For now I wanted to share my outfit pictures I took the other day.

Hour by hour

Hour by hour

I thought it would be fun to share how my day goes about. With that said, no day is the same, but there is usually a common thread. A lot of playing, a little sleeping and a lot of eating.

07.30 a.m. – Every day starts early when you have a four month old. I hear the little one is awake and it’s time for breakfast in bed. After a quick breakfast it’s time to wake up and change the nappy and let the day begin. Now it’s two hours of playtime while I try to eat my breakfast and occasionally check social media.

09.30 a.m. – Time for a two hour nap (hopefully). And I can sleep a couple of hours as well. The upside to waking up early is that you allow yourself a nap whenever the baby sleeps. And I generally fall asleep as quickly as the baby.

11.30 p.m. – The day begins for the second time, and after some food and a diaper change we can play again. I need some food too and that’s usually lunch. Consisting of two, or three, slices of bread and a much needed coffee. We play and I try to do some tasks in between.

2.30 p.m. – It’s time to go out, ordinarily after the baby has had some food and a change. Whether it’s a trip to the shopping center or just a stroll down the street, nevertheless it’s nice to get out of the house.

3 p.m. – After a 30 – 40 minute walk we arrive home again, often with a sleepy baby. It’s time for a snack, mostly some fruit or nuts. It’s time to think about dinner as well, always a dilemma – steak, soup or chicken?

6 p.m. – The afternoon is spent playing, eating and maybe a 30 minute nap. Dad is also home and we slowly get the baby ready for bed. Usually it’s just change into PJ’s but twice a week there is also a bath.

7 p.m. – Dinner is made and the parents can finally eat as well. The baby is getting a little bit uneasy ad we can tell it’s time to go to sleep soon.

8 p.m. – We can finally breath out and enjoy the evening for ourselves. Watching “The Flash”, sewing or reading a book, either way, enjoying the quite sound of the night.

23 p.m. – I finally fall asleep, a half hour later than what I would like, but at least I get a couple of hours of sleep before I have to feed the baby again.

One week later

One week later

I had to take a minute and regather my strength. I don’t know what happened but a week ago on Friday my body said stop. I had to take a breather and just be. I wasn’t able to do much that day other than to look after myself. I had a headache and felt nauseated throughout the entire day. Luckily with a lot of resting and sleep I was feeling like myself again the next day.

Now a week later, the trees are getting greener and my baby is getting older. I’ve spent most of my days inside because the heat is too real right now. I should be thankful for the wonderful weather we have received but a little cold breeze wouldn’t hurt. I’ve had family over, started reading a new book and figuring out how I can expand my growth on social media. I would love for this blog to be more than just a hobby. But I know I have to give a 110% and unfortunately I don’t have the dedication right now. I guess I don’t know how to managed my time yet, but I’ll get there, hopefully.

From spring to snow

From spring to snow

Today was a cold and gray day. Unlike yesterday when the sun was shinning and the flowers still bloomed. What a different a day can make. Now the sidewalk is covered with snow and there is yet again a cold breeze outside. It may go without saying but we stayed inside today. Even though I desperately need to make a trip to the grocery market because our fridge is running empty soon. Other than staying inside today I managed to clean a little, take an afternoon nap and start a new sewing project. Hopefully I’ll be able to share the process and result with you soon. I’ll be heading off to bed in less than twenty minutes so I’ll say goodnight now.

Fresh baked rolls & Marie Claire

Fresh baked rolls & Marie Claire

img_1076
To be honest I haven’t read my new Marie Claire magazine but I did go out to buy fresh baked rolls this morning. We have a tiny little bakery a few minutes from where I live and they bake the best bread and rolls. I usually don’t splurged on bread like that but it is a national holiday here. Even though we don’t celebrate or have anything to do with easter, it’s nice to do a little bit extra sometimes. It also reminds me of the best breakfasts we had with my late grandmother. The smell of fresh coffee and bread is just so satisfying.

Other than that today was an uneventful day. Spending the day on the couch feeding and the frequently diaper change there isn’t much news to my life. A little guilt has sneaked up on me since it’s been a while since I’ve updated you, but right now there isn’t much to tell. As we speak the little one is asleep and today’s football game is on, Bayern v. Real Madrid. Not that’s of my interest. Other than that I will enjoy the quit sounds of the night.

Monday

Monday

When I’ve got one day off I try to squeeze in as much as possible. I maximize the time I have and do multiple things at once. I know this can be quite distracting and not always the most effective. But I like to multitask. Right now I’m transferring pictures from iCloud to my hard drive whilst I’m writing todays blog post and drinking coffee. On top of that one of my two cats also wants to cuddle. On that note, don’t you just want to cuddle and squeeze all these baby animals at once? That baby penguin just melts my heart.

I often set too much up for myself. I’m certain will make it, but half way through it time ran out. Still ahead are several things, cooking, cleaning and maybe starting a sewing project. They always inspire me but also scare me. I never seem to finish and if I do I’m never a hundred prosent happy with the result. The struggles of a perfectionist. I’ll keep you posted.

5 reasons to wake up early

5 reasons to wake up early

1. See the sunrise

How beautiful isn’t it to wake up before everyone else and enjoy the perfect painted picture God creates every morning. It’s a sight I never can get enough of.

2. Enjoy the early morning silence

Whilst sipping your morning coffee or tee listening to nothing else than complete silence around you. A gift we often take for granted.

3. Plan your day

When you wake up early you get the chance to plan out every single hour of the day ahead of you.

4. Workout

Maybe not the most motivating way to get out of bed but just imaging how satisfied you’ll feel after a good morning routine. Start of with some stretching and maybe some light cardio, before you know it you’ll be jumping out of bed to get ahead.

5. Sleep more

The last and maybe the best reason to get up early is that you’ll be tired in the evening which will force you to go to bed early.
