Like walking on a sky

Like walking on a sky

Yesterday was such a wired and difficult day for some reason. You know when you have those days when nothing will go your way. It’s like the univers is against you. My time planning isn’t on it’s strongest side either, and when I think I can manage to get ready in 15 minutes I must be dreaming.

I can’t remember the last time I slept in and since my son wakes me up at 7 am now, I defiantly have to step up my game and put my money where my month is. I can’t just keep saying things and not see them through. I’ve also been so lazy this week with my training. But luckily the day turned around yesterday when I finally got out. After a little tantrum on my side – not my proudest moment – and a lot of f-words, which I never say, the day somehow turned around.

I met up with my mum and we had a lovely afternoon out. We began our shopping trip at a café because we were all starving and then continued on with some shopping. I desperately needed new kicks, and I’ve been drooling over either Nike or Adidas for the longest time. Brands are never really my thing but with good (looking) walking shoes you can never go wrong with a original brand like Nike or Adidas. After trying on some sneakers, all in a baby pink colour, I slipped into the dusty pink Nike Air and it was like walking on a sky. I have never felt such comfort on my feet and I knew I had to get them.

After 100£ lighter we went on to the toy store before I practically ran to the hairdressers to buy a new shampoo before the stores closed. I try to change my brand every time I use up my shampoo & conditioner but I always choose volum shampoo because that’s what my scalp needs at the moment.

The next two hours we went to eat dinner before I drove my mum home. I hope the coming week will be so much better. And I’ll start right here and now & try to see some promises through that I make myself.

Last day of 2017 – recap

Last day of 2017 – recap

15 minutes before midnight and here I am sitting on the couch writing a recap post. 2017 has been a wild, chill, amazing, heartwarming, difficult and hard – and once again I’m taking a look back at the past year.

Last Day of 2016 – I ended and started the year with my mum, highly pregnant, walking around trying to catch the fireworks at 12. It was a lot like today, cloudy and roads covered in snow. We actually didn’t find a good spot to look at the fireworks, but we did see some. And after a short, but tiring walk I made my way home to my bed.

15th of January – The most amazing, heartwarming, incredible day of my life, and of 2017. I gave birth to my baby boy. He’s soon turning 1, and I can’t believe how I found the strength to push him out without any medication or drugs. This was hands down my proudest moment & the highlight of my year!
Surprise Birthday Party for 2 – Surprised my mum at home with a clean house and her favorite cake. I stayed and celebrated her belated birthday whilst we ate carrot cake and she opened presents.
Summer 2017 – First summer i tried wearing the hijab, and it was a success! Not as hard as I thought it would be. Abayas became my new best friend and light chiffon scarfs as well.
22nd Birthday – I gave birth at 21, but 7 months later I turned 22. If you haven’t seen it you can watch my «22 things I’ve learned the last 22 years».
2 Year Anniversary – This day lies close to my heart because it’s the day I said my shahada. Nervous and anxious, but the best decision I have made.
Roadtrip to Gothenburg – I was eager to travel the whole year, and finally at the last end of November we decided to take a roadtrip – my mum, my son and I. We had a wonderful stay in Gothenburg, spending most of our time at Liseberg, Universum and in the car, of course.
First day back at work – After 46 weeks at home I had to say goodbye to my baby boy, at least for a couple of hours, and go back to work. After a couple of days and haircuts, I was back into the old routines.
Dinner with the fam – 23rd of December, a day before Christmas Eve here in Scandinavia, we all meet up at my brothers apartment and had a wonderful homemade buffet and played games long over midnight.
Last day of 2017 – Today I continued packing for tomorrow, and also meet up with my mum yet again for a New Years Eve dinner with my son. Now 1 year later he could join us and it was a full circle experience.

A new year is on it’s way, and this year we get 366 days of creating and writing our story!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I can only pray and hope for better days

I can only pray and hope for better days

Today I just had the worst start to the day. I woke up at 6.30 am thinking I would lay in bed a couple of minutes more and figure out what I should wear for work. A minute later I must have fallen asleep because I abruptly woke up at 8.40 am, 20 minutes before my call time to work. Bare in mind it takes me about 30 minutes to drive to work. Jumping out of the bed in panic when I finally realized how much I overslept. Stressed out trying to contact my work I made my way to the bathroom and only managed to comb through my hair and put on some new clothes.

To say it mildly, it was a stressful day. I arrived 15 minutes late but my customer was taken good care of, but I stayed 15 minutes late until my break. I’ve been home a couple of hours now and gathered myself, spent time with my family and finally made dinner so I could eat a proper meal. The last couple of hours I’ve also been working on tomorrows video which will be up at 2 pm on my YouTube channel. Next on my shopping list is a new camera since my old Nikon doesn’t want to start. Right now I’m filming on my iPhone and trust me, I know the quality is bad.

I can only pray and hope for better days.

The end of a mini holiday

The end of a mini holiday

We actually managed to get down to breakfast an hour before it closed. Which is a new record for this trip, but with my son on one arm and a plate on the other, there was just so much I could get. Luckily my mum came a few minutes later and helped us out. It’s impossible to let my son go on his own because he’ll just run off to the next stranger.
On our second day and last full day in Gothenburg we made our way to Universum. Luckily the weather was on our side and we managed to walk there without any poring rain. From 2 pm til 6 pm we stayed at this magnificent place where there were both fish, birds, and butterflies. We started off with a walk in the aquarium, before we took a coffee break and a diaper change. Late afternoon, right at my sons nap time, we made our way with him on back, into the rainforest. The air was thick and warm but after a couple of minutes you can get used to it.
That evening we stayed at the hotel and had our dinner there. We both ate pasta, mine vegetarian. After dinner we all stayed at the playing area before we went up to our room. Next morning started early at 7 am with our last breakfast and a check out at 12. We were on our way back but we took a shopping break right near the border. We weren’t home before 9.30 pm but it was totally worth it!

The beginning of a mini holiday

The beginning of a mini holiday

The last three days I’ve been away on holiday. I already miss the holiday feeling, starting with a continual breakfast where you can (almost) have anything you want for breakfast. Then my own workout room awaited me since no one else seemed to be working out in the hotel. After that there was hours of fun & adventure in the city.

We drove down to Gothenburg on Sunday early afternoon. It took less than 4 hours as we switched on driving which was a relief. My son slept a long way down but woke up halfway there and started to get a little bit restless in the end. But for a 10 months old he did very well.

After checking in at 3 pm we went up to our room, settled in before we went out to the amusement park just around the corner. Unfortunately it was raining so heavily just as we turned the corner that we decided to go back to the hotel and call a cab. This would mean we would have to wait another 30 minutes and the park was already closing in less than 3 hours. So we made our way to our own car and drove down the street. With our luck we actually managed to take a wrong turn and a 2 minute drive turned in to 10 minutes. In the end we found a parking spot which we only payed 11 kroner (1 pound) for and with a walking distance we where at the park.

Such lovely lights and holiday feeling we got while walking through the park. We stopped to eat at a very cold restaurant but we had to fill our stomachs before we enjoyed the rest of the remaining time at the park. On our way back we stopped at a local food store before we took an early night in.

I wish the day had more than 24 hours

I wish the day had more than 24 hours

I desperately need more hours in the day. It’s frustrating to know that the day is coming to an end and I’ve hardly done anything productive. Most of my days start off very early but today I got to sleep til 8 am which I can’t remember when I’ve done last. Jumping out of bed, checking to my baby because I though he was already up. He wasn’t which made it possible to go to the toilet in peace and make breakfast. Between breakfast and my son’s first nap I managed to workout. He didn’t wake up before after my shower which was amazing, but after that the day just went into a blur.

We drove to his grandparents in the early afternoon and came home 2 hours later. That would give me more than enough time to do what I need to do. But between diaper changes, making dinner and giving my son a bath there’s not much time left for me.

I’ve been sitting at my sewing machine for the last hour but I just can’t get it to work properly. I’ve seen X amount of YouTube videos on ‘how to’. Everything from threading to sewing, but they all make it seem so simple and here I am still struggling. If I haven’t told you I got a SERGER for my birthday this year but it was bough on eBay so it wasn’t exactly brand new. I thought I could just sit down and start sewing but one problem after another started appearing. I’ve change both knives, needles and all 4 threads – and I still can’t figure it out. Why does everything have to be so bloody difficult with me?
That was my Sunday rant. I just had to get it out so that I wouldn’t go crazy. Sometimes I wish things would just be simple, but I guess that’s just too much to ask for.

Anyway, I hope for a better day tomorrow. Until then, goodnight.

A gold cup of coffee

A gold cup of coffee

Yesterday was a lovely, relaxing Friday. I actually love the beginning of the weekend, starting my Friday of by listening to Surah Al-Kahf. I felt a little bit extra after filming my Sunday video so I pampered up and went out to the playground. My son loves it there and he’s become so active, wanting to walk around everywhere. After an hour there we made our way back home.

His nap was long over due so I tucked him in and started making dinner. In the evening again we made our way to his grandfather aka my father. He always starts of really shy but when he’s warmed up and used to the environment he is his own self – playing, walking and talking.

This was yesterday brunch, sipping a cup of coffee from my new gold mug. My mum wanted to spoil me a little when we were out shopping on Wednesday, and even though I actually didn’t need these cups, they looked so inviting and great for pictures. So I got two and they have both already been in use.

Today I’m thinking about talking a stroll out to the playground again but first I have to edit tomorrows video. I’ll be sharing my tips on how I lost my baby weight and how to start working out again after having a child. After that video I’m done with baby talk for a while and will be back making ‘day in the life’ or fashion/beauty related videos.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Beautiful outdoor garden view

Beautiful outdoor garden view

Today was spend mostly outside on our beautiful self built terrace. I finally got all my flowers sorted and planted and I’m so happy with the result. Down below you can see a little sneak peak in the background. Yesterday I also put up some bird food and already this morning we saw three little birdies having their breakfast, one mother feeding her two babies. As we speak they are actually back probably getting their dinner.

I recently also purchased a self controller to take pictures with so I won’t need my self timer and stand and pose for 3-10 seconds before it goes off. Here is some of the result from the pictures I took this week.

Squash soup

Squash soup

I made this recipe two days ago and it was surprisingly good and so easy to make that I have to share it with you.

♥ 1 onion, chopped ♥ 2 garlic cloves ♥ 2 squash
♥ 6,5 dl water ♥ 1 vegetable stock ♥ 1 dl single cream ♥ Oil for cooking

  1. Fry onion and the garlic with a little bit of oil in a soup pot.
  2. Chop the squash in tiny pieces and add it in the pot.

3. Add water and stock and let it boil on low heat for 10 minutes.
4. Mash the soup with a puree mixer, and add single cream and a little bit of pepper at the end.

5. Garnish the soup with dill or chive and serve with bread.

I hope you like this as much as I did. Happy cooking!

20th of February

20th of February

I know it’s been two days since I’ve posted something, and that is just not ok. I could say that I’ve been busy with work which is true, but that doesn’t mean I can neglect you guys! I love to write and share, inspire and post, and I can only learn from this.

It’s Saturday and finally a day off for me. I don’t have anything special on the agenda today other then the usual cleaning that I try to do whenever I have a day off.

202

I actually get things done better when I see them written down and it makes me more motivated. I will check in with you later again today. I hope you have a great day!
