Chasing Likes Through Double Taps

Chasing Likes Through Double Taps

After deleting my social media I suddenly remember how my time was spent before using it. How I used to have time to enjoy my meals without scrolling through Instagram. Or how I actually get time to read the blogs I used to love instead of just skimming through to see the pretty pictures. I found myself wasting my precious time – the time we have so little of and that goes by faster each year. At the end of the day it was neither beneficial or good for me. Whether I was posting a new picture, searching for likes and comments, waiting for my next follower. Or scrolling through to find my heart get jealous of what I couldn’t deliver through amazing photography skills or the number of likes I saw flashing in my face.

I need to start focusing on myself in the real world and not the visual concept we call social media.

No one dares to show the real side of life – only chasing likes through double taps.

I can only pray and hope for better days

I can only pray and hope for better days

Today I just had the worst start to the day. I woke up at 6.30 am thinking I would lay in bed a couple of minutes more and figure out what I should wear for work. A minute later I must have fallen asleep because I abruptly woke up at 8.40 am, 20 minutes before my call time to work. Bare in mind it takes me about 30 minutes to drive to work. Jumping out of the bed in panic when I finally realized how much I overslept. Stressed out trying to contact my work I made my way to the bathroom and only managed to comb through my hair and put on some new clothes.

To say it mildly, it was a stressful day. I arrived 15 minutes late but my customer was taken good care of, but I stayed 15 minutes late until my break. I’ve been home a couple of hours now and gathered myself, spent time with my family and finally made dinner so I could eat a proper meal. The last couple of hours I’ve also been working on tomorrows video which will be up at 2 pm on my YouTube channel. Next on my shopping list is a new camera since my old Nikon doesn’t want to start. Right now I’m filming on my iPhone and trust me, I know the quality is bad.

I can only pray and hope for better days.

The beginning of a mini holiday

The beginning of a mini holiday

The last three days I’ve been away on holiday. I already miss the holiday feeling, starting with a continual breakfast where you can (almost) have anything you want for breakfast. Then my own workout room awaited me since no one else seemed to be working out in the hotel. After that there was hours of fun & adventure in the city.

We drove down to Gothenburg on Sunday early afternoon. It took less than 4 hours as we switched on driving which was a relief. My son slept a long way down but woke up halfway there and started to get a little bit restless in the end. But for a 10 months old he did very well.

After checking in at 3 pm we went up to our room, settled in before we went out to the amusement park just around the corner. Unfortunately it was raining so heavily just as we turned the corner that we decided to go back to the hotel and call a cab. This would mean we would have to wait another 30 minutes and the park was already closing in less than 3 hours. So we made our way to our own car and drove down the street. With our luck we actually managed to take a wrong turn and a 2 minute drive turned in to 10 minutes. In the end we found a parking spot which we only payed 11 kroner (1 pound) for and with a walking distance we where at the park.

Such lovely lights and holiday feeling we got while walking through the park. We stopped to eat at a very cold restaurant but we had to fill our stomachs before we enjoyed the rest of the remaining time at the park. On our way back we stopped at a local food store before we took an early night in.

Midweek update

Midweek update

I’m starting today off with a warm cup of lemon with honey. I woke up with a little bit of a itching throat and I do not feel like getting sick now. I have to make myself breakfast soon because my stomach does get a little bit upset if I wait too long.

Yesterday was a rainy autumn day but that didn’t stop us from going out. I got to use a new rain cover for the stroller and I came to know that I need a new rain jacket, one that is a bit bigger and longer. Something I will look for today when I’m going shopping with my mum. We walked down to our local shopping center and sat down to eat pancakes and I had one of the best frappes. The little one also got some walking shoes which will make it easier for him to practice.

Yesterday evening we all went out for pizza which was nice. It’s been a while since we’ve been out, and it was actually the first time with our son.

Today will be one of those normal days again. I’m planning on working out, maybe doing a warm up outside and then in the evening I have some alone time with my mum. Nice little surprises like these during the week is what you need once in a while.

One week ago now

One week ago now

My day started off like any other day. No pancakes or coffee in bed even though that’s the ultimate dream. I went on doing some housework and making dinner for my guests that evening.

I was greeted with flowers and a basked full of fruit. At 6pm we started eating my homemade meatballs, chicken with rise and potato salad. Everything tastes twice as good when you know how much effort you put in to it.

We continued on playing uno, heads up and ping pong. And didn’t end up saying good night before 10.30 pm. It was a lovely evening spent with wonderful people.

Beautiful outdoor garden view

Beautiful outdoor garden view

Today was spend mostly outside on our beautiful self built terrace. I finally got all my flowers sorted and planted and I’m so happy with the result. Down below you can see a little sneak peak in the background. Yesterday I also put up some bird food and already this morning we saw three little birdies having their breakfast, one mother feeding her two babies. As we speak they are actually back probably getting their dinner.

I recently also purchased a self controller to take pictures with so I won’t need my self timer and stand and pose for 3-10 seconds before it goes off. Here is some of the result from the pictures I took this week.

When your living room is looking like a playground

When your living room is looking like a playground

The last couple of days have been stressful. With a little crawler here at home you have to get extra alert. But now that I’ve finally bought some baby proofing it’s safer to crawl around. I never knew how fast you could get to places when you’re on your stomach. But it’s of course fun to explore everything new around you. My living room is definitely looking like a playground and my inner neat freak is freaking out a little, but I know everything will be nice and cleaned up again in the evening.

Yesterday was just super hectic. The day started off having to drive into the city early in the morning to try and fix a passport. Luckily I’m getting mine renewed but we have to find a different solution for the little one. At least I have today off so I might go shopping and hopefully I’ll be able to film another video for you.

Here are some snapshots for this week. Don’t forget to check by my YouTube channel where I try to upload as much as possible. I’ve also ordered some new equipment from Amazon so hopefully that will arrive soon. Fingers crossed.

The best feeling in the world

The best feeling in the world

..is when you can check off your to-do list one by one.

todo

The day started off an hour earlier then planned and after only six hours of sleep with a list that was half a mile long. I did make a very specific list the night before, hour by hour, instead of just listing things up and not knowing when I would do them. This can be a great way to plan out your day in advanced, especially if you want a lot of stuff done.

My original plan was to go back to sleep from 10 am to 12, but after an intens leg workout my energy level was up in the sky and there was no way I would fall back to sleep.

I got a bit delayed midday but at the end I managed to pull through.  With a one hour nap in between it was safe to say that my energy level was running low at the end of the night. The next couple of days I just have to continue on with my work and try to catch up on some sleep as well.

Never my intention

Never my intention

I’m sitting here on the floor waiting for my new video to upload to youtube. It’s challenging having both a youtube channel and a blog to maintain because I feel like one or the other get forgotten, but that’s never my intention.

I really wanted to step back in Ramadan and not post anything meaningless. But now that we’re back in our everyday lifestyle it’s time to get back into some old routines as well. Leave your bad habits behind and focus on the positive. Take with everything good you’ve learned this Ramadan and implement it in your daily life.

For me that is working out and eating regularly and more healthy again. I usually don’t crave any sweets anyway, but I’ve missed the working out part. I’m already sore from yesterdays leg workout. I also want to make more videos but I won’t promise anything I can’t keep. Other than that there are some projects I’m working on here at home that I’ll hopefully be able to share when they are done.

Hello February

Hello February

First day in February, the shortest month of the year, started off with a cold and rainy snowfall. I’ve already been on a stroll outside but today’s trip lasted less than half an hour. But since it is the first day of February I thought I’d share ten random facts about me – so here we go.

  1. First thought when you looked in the mirror today? That I still have some glue left on my upper eyelids from yesterdays false lashes, which will probably take a day or two to get rid of.
  2. Who is the 4th person on your ‘missed calls list’ on your phone? A call from our local health clinic.
  3. What does it say in your last text message? Ca. 19:15 – Ok? A message from my dad wonder when he could come over yesterday. text
  4. What are you wearing right now? A pair of grey big sweatpants, a white nursing topp which I paired with a warm cardigan and then my blue turban, which has been my favorite style to wear lately.
  5. What word do you use over and over? Probably the word ‘bismillah’ – meaning: ‘In the name of Allah (God)’. A word I use before I eat, drink, go to the toilet or go out.
  6. Your favorite age so far in life? I’m pretty happy about the age I am at right now. Where I am in life and my situation. I’m truly blessed with the amount of love I have around me.
  7. What’s your screensaver right now?  Kinda boring, but I like to have everything neat and tidy, which includes my screensaver. skjermbilde-2017-02-01-kl-14-43-08
  8. What’s the last thing you said to someone today? I do have regular conversations with my baby, but they are with no respons. So I guess it has to be when I said goodbye to my other half before he went of to work.
  9. If you could change your name, what would you choose? This is a tough one because I do love my name, even though I never seemed to like it as much when I was younger. People always seemed to spell it wrong or pronounce it the wrong way, but now I’m quite content with it.
  10. Which one of your instagram pictures has gotten the most likes? With my 150 followers there is not a lot of bragging to do here, but there was a time where I had an open profil and I did get a few more likes then I do now. instagram-2

Now that I’ve almost used an hour for this blog post I must continue my day and that includes getting myself something to eat before the little one wakes up.
