Early morning walks

I just love snuggling up in cozy jumpers and this has absolute been my favorite the last couple of days.

This was taken a couple of days back when we were out for a early (late) walk. It was actually before 12 o’clock which meant not too many people on the streets. So I made sure to take out my camera, set it up on the stroller and do a little photo shoot.

Before I forget there will be a new video up on my YouTube channel today at 14 pm. I’ll be taking a look at my old diaries and reading some of the stories from way back in the days.

Happy Sunday!

Red is my new favorite color

I definitely need to find some new outfit locations because my house is running out of space. Luckily I did manage to pull this off with my phone hanging on a tripod attached to the crib and with a timer in my hand I had my own little photoshoot.

The weight of the world on my shoulders

I’m already on my second cup of coffee which I usually never drink but today it’s absolutely nesaccary. With only 8 hours of interrupted sleep and a nap where I couldn’t even snooze off for two minutes, it’s safe to say I’m very tired. My body is so stiff and I feel this heavy weight on my shoulders. Probably a mix of stress, too little sleep and in much need of a long massage.

Having a 7 month baby is so much more work then what it was four months ago. I love every minute spent with my son, but I feel like I’m running on my last battery here. When and how I will be able to recharge will only be shown in the future. For now I wanted to share my outfit pictures I took the other day.

Beautiful outdoor garden view

Today was spend mostly outside on our beautiful self built terrace. I finally got all my flowers sorted and planted and I’m so happy with the result. Down below you can see a little sneak peak in the background. Yesterday I also put up some bird food and already this morning we saw three little birdies having their breakfast, one mother feeding her two babies. As we speak they are actually back probably getting their dinner.

I recently also purchased a self controller to take pictures with so I won’t need my self timer and stand and pose for 3-10 seconds before it goes off. Here is some of the result from the pictures I took this week.

Little things

A woman in hijab

You may think I’m oppressed by the way you stare at me. That I’m not free to make my own decision. Maybe you think I’m forced to cover up my beauty.
I guess it bothers you that I choose what to show and withhold from the world. But the truth is that a veil like the hijab represents so much more then what you see.
We don’t lie or steal, drink or smoke. We think before we talk and watch our tongue.
We choose to wear it, to be among the best of people.
I hope one day you can see past my veil and see who I truly am. Because my freedom is not determined whether I show my hair or flaunt my body. And remember that the hijab represents so much more than a cover to your hair.

Wake up before the sun rises

For the longest time I’ve struggled to wake up on time before the sun rises, to stand before my Lord and pray. Waking up before everyone else, hearing the birds sing outside my window. Slowly seeing the darkness of the night fade away. But when I do it’s the best feeling in the world.

It’s going to be a struggle every single day, fighting the comfort of the warm bed and stop the dreams. But I also know that I only have my deeds left with me at the end. So these are some of the things that get me up in the morning and hopefully they can help you too.

Prayer – Remember that the morning prayer is the shortest and also the quickest since there is only two raka’ah. It doesn’t take long before you can snuggle up in your bed again and continue sleeping.

"Whoever prays Fajr is under the protection of Allah."

Shaytan – Fajr might be the hardest prayer since the devil is working extra hard to keep you from remembering your Lord. But remember Allah, do ablation and pray and the three knots  that tie you to your bed at night are broken. And suddenly you’ve won the battle.

"The two cycles (rak'ats) of the morning prayer are better than
the world and what it contains."

Adhan – The sound of the adhan is a miracle in it self and I didn’t do this before a couple of days ago but you can’t ignore the sound of the adhan as your alarm in the morning. And if you still need help you should put your alarm clock far away from your bed so that you have to stand up.

The hijab

Skjermbilde 2017-03-22 kl. 15.24.18

A cloth you put around your hair, draped down your chest. A garment worn by women. A religious sign – a sign that shows the world that you are muslim. A sign of oppression for some. But for me it’s a sign of freedom.

A conscious choice I make every day because I refuse to be seen as a sexual object for people to look at. I choose who I want to show my beauty to. And through my modesty you are forced to only see my heart and mind. Because that’s what I choose to share.

Some days I find myself wrapping my veil over and over again, never being satisfied. Feeling a resistance and thinking it would be easier to tuck away my scarfs in the back of the closet, but then I would be like everyone else. What I strive for is not in this world but beyond what I can see. And I finally choose to show the world I’m muslim.
