A whirlwind of a week

A whirlwind of a week

Monday

The last couple of days have been so crazy. It all started on Monday where I had a chill day with my son until he fell into an accident. I got so overwhelmed and guilty that I couldn’t protect him. Luckily his bruises are almost healed and he was back on his feet in no time.

Tuesday

Tuesday I got an email about a phone interview I had Friday morning, just when I thought there was no hope left.

Wednesday

On Wednesday I had to bring my car into the repair shop so that I could continue on driving it the next 2 years. That meant waking up at 6.30am, driving to the next town an hour later and then wait a whole day till the car was fixed. We did spend the morning having a hotel breakfast and continued on with shopping and a walk back home to my mums. Whilst my son was taking his afternoon nap which he had been procrastinating, I could finally breath out and relax.

Thursday

I got another interview call on Thursday which meant I got to meet my mum again so that she could watch my son. It went fairly well and we enjoyed an afternoon outside before we drove back home where I then colored her hair.

I actually got another call yesterday morning while I was at the health station with my son for his last baby vaccine. Another store wanted me in for an interview and we settled for today at 1pm.

Friday

Starting off today fairly early at 7.30am, I had breakfast and got ready for my first interview. Around noon I had to drive, yet again to my mums to pick her up so that she could watch my son while I went to my second interview.

It has literally felt like I’ve been running around everywhere and meeting so many new people in such a short amount of time. On top of that I have another interview on Monday at a clothing store which I’m super excited about. But first I have to take this weekend to rewind and unplug. My feet are killing me and I’m in desperate need of a lot of sleep.

Wish me luck!

DIY closet door knobs

DIY closet door knobs

I finally got these crystal knobs for our bedroom closets. When we moved in here there were only these boring white ones from IKEA and I’ve thought about making it a bit more classy for a while now. I browsed through the web and found these from an interior store. You can find all kinds of unnecessary stuff there but also some really cute bits and bobs.

I love how the light catches the sparkles – it makes the whole room get a bit more class. You can find them here: Diamond knobs

Simple changes like these make my day. You don’t always have to invest in a whole new closet to get a new look.

5 tips for shopping

5 tips for shopping

Lately I’ve really been looking for key pieces for my wardrobe. Clothes I can wear for a long period of time, like a timeless white shirt or black blazer. I used to buy things on a whim. Sometimes only because they where cheap. And a lot of clothes were only worn once and then found themselves on their way to the thrift store. So I want to share five tips that help me when I shop. If you can check of every point on this list then there is no doubt that you should buy it.

Like everything!
You have to actually like everything on that new piece you want to buy. If something throws you off or makes you question this new clothing then leave it, in the end it won’t be worth your money.

Price range
Find a price range you are comfortable with. Go shopping with a budget and it will narrow down your options.

Limited items
Before you go on your shopping trip set yourself a limited amount of items your allowed to buy. That way you won’t go all crazy and your wallet will thank you later.

Online shopping
Go online window shopping first. Check out your favorite stores website and brows through their new merchandise. This will make your actual shopping go smoother and quicker. You know what you need, or want, and once you’re in the store you can easily ask a sales assistant to help you.

If you can’t stop thinking about it – buy it!
This is my best tip because if you really love something and still think about it after a week, it’s meant to be. So don’t hesitate to buy it once you can’t stop thinking about it.

INGLOT: 1st impression

INGLOT: 1st impression

I got a little bit less sleep than I’d hoped today but the sun is shining behind the clouds and it’s a new week. I’ve already been grocery shopping for the entire week and the only other thing I want to do today is maybe start a new sewing project. But for now I wanted to share my thoughts on the make-up brand INGLOT. I had never heard of the brand before a year ago when a shop opened at the shopping center I work at. Impressed by the great customer service and the professional make-up artist that work there to give you the best consultation with a wide range of inexpensive make-up.

AMC cream foundation
This was the first foundation I bought from Ingot and I was eager to try it out. I got good service from a make-up artist there and she tested out several foundations before we chose this one. Unfortunately after applying it myself I found it too creamy and very watery. I’ve always had trouble finding the right shade and I often go too dark. This time though it was too light for my face, even though I’m very pale to begin with. It did give me a nice coverage and I only needed 1-2 pumps for my whole face. Downside is was that it only lasted 3 months and I usually have my foundations up to six months.

Cream foundation
After the first foundation was a miss I wanted to give the brand a second chance. So I did, and again got great service from one of the make-up artist working there. I told her what I thought of the first foundation and she agreed that I was too light for my skin. After a consultation she recommended a cream foundation. She told me it was light weight but I felt it covered up nicely when she applied it. When I came home and tried it for myself I realized how much product I had to use to get a nice complexion. And personally I think it’s too expensive for the amount of product I have to use to get the result I want. The shade on the other hand was spot on and perfect for my skin tone.

Sparkeling dust
This is the first highlight that I’m impressed with and has stayed on my face the whole day. I’ve tried a cream one before and it has not worked with my skin type. You get a lot of product and a little goes a long way. It could be even more pigmented for my liking and it is a little bit messy when you apply it since it is in a powder form. But the prize is just right for the amount of product you get.

Setting spray
This has a nice fresh sent to it and it does the job. You have a lot of product for a very nice prize as well. I could definitely see myself buying this again.

Lash enhancer mascara
Mascara is always hard to buy because you can’t test it in the store and you just have to trust that the sale’s person. I was recommend this because I wanted length and it does give you that. But for me it clumps too much, the brush doesn’t define your lashes and you get too much product on your eyelashes.

Waiting

Waiting

I must say I’m quite nervous. For the unknown, the family we are about to become. Here I am, sitting, waiting, day in and day out. Waiting for you. I never thought you would come so soon but as we plan so does a greater power, and He is the best of planners. So when things get a little bit too hard or nerve-racking I think about that it’s all in the hands of my Creator. This gives me a sense of peace and ease. This is how it’s meant to be and I can’t wait for our next chapter to begin.

2016 summary

2016 summary

At the end of every year I sit down and write down the big things that have happened the last year. It’s a great way to reflect and look back at the year I’ve had. Even though I haven’t shared a lot lately, there is a lot that has happened and I thought I’d write an overview of how my 2016 has been.

New Years Eve – A very laid-back evening with my love. We made dinner together at our first home. The power went out half way through the night but that only made it more cosy. The clock turned midnight and we watched the fireworks from our balcony.
London – From the 1st to 5th of February we travelled to England. I’ve always dreamed of going and it was a great first trip together as a couple.
May 1st – After 6 months at our new home we had to move out. We had three months to pack up our things and move.
May 18th – The day we found out that Baby #1 is on the way. A nerve-racking and exciting day with a whole lot of feelings.
1st of July – Moving day. We moved to a town 20 minutes away from our first apartment. And personally, I couldn’t be more happy. New beginnings are always nice and with an extra bedroom there would be plenty of space for our little family.
24th of August – First baby check-up, is it a boy or a girl?
26th of August – My birthday, I’m officially 21. I never in a million years thought that I would be in this place at my age. But I couldn’t be more happy.
16th to 21st of September – Lisa, my cousin from Scotland, visited. We had a lovely couple of days together with lots of shopping, sightseeing and great company.

5 things to do..

5 things to do..

..when you’re bored.

For the last two weeks I’ve been at home, organizing, cleaning, doing laundry – simply getting everything ready before our little one comes home. After checking off my to-do list one by one, I find myself very bored. I don’t work at the moment and I can feel that I miss that time I had away from home amongst my colleagues.

  1. Write a letter to a friend. We’ve gotten so consumed with our social media, only snapping or posting when something important is happening. But what about a hand written letter to an old friend? I must admit that I miss getting post. It might take a little longer to get an answer back than sending an email or snap chatting, but I think it’s worth the wait. letter
  2. Paint your keys. If you are really bored, why not take some nail polish and decorate your keys. You’ll probably never use the wrong key again and it’s a fun way to test your artistic skills. large
  3. Take a bath or long shower. Whatever you have available, you should pamper yourself once in a while. It’s completely relaxing and with some lighted candles and a good exfoliator you’ll feel as good as new. tub
  4. Organize your phone or computer space. Maybe not the most fun, but completely rewarding and you’ll have more memory space when you’re done. A win-win situation. phone
  5. Look at old photos. Take a trip down memory lane and reminisce about the old times. Perfect now that this year is coming to an end. Maybe even make a photo album online which you can save or print out later. photo

Patience

Patience

It’s been a minute or two since I’ve sat down and opened a blank post. The end of the year is sneaking up on us, and new beginnings are awaiting. A lot is going to change in the coming year and I’m debating on weather or not to share that part of my life. Since it’s so private and close to my heart, I want to protect it as much as I can.

As for myself, I’m still learning and everyday is a constant battle. It’s a lifelong journey and I need patience with myself. And I need the same patience and support from the people around me. It’s hard when you feel you’re carrying a huge weight on your shoulders. When people you thought where the closest to you, can’t be there for you and somehow you know you don’t have their support. It wears you down and sometimes you just want to run away from it all. But you can’t, and you remember that God has put you in this situation, going through this trial for a reason.

Monday

Monday

Yes, the day has come again.. Monday. Good morning! It’s sunny and still a bit frosty outside and a new week has begun. My day already started off when the alarm clock rang at 6 am. There was really no point in going back to bed so I stayed up, drank my morning coffee in silence and ate breakfast. After this post I’ll be on my way to buy some DIY things that I want to get ahead of at home. I feel that spring is coming now that February almost is over and I thought it would be time to freshen up at home a little bit. Stay tuned!

Happy Monday, make the most of today!

Saturday

Saturday

My home office today. I always get the couch or the bed, but I don’t mind. At least I get to update you once in a while. I know I have been neglecting to write. I don’t know where to start. Should I tell you the whole story or only put to words the ‘perfect’ picture? It’s easy to hide behind a screen, for me and for you. I still have the control but if I share it all, you will get it. You will get the control to judge me, and I don’t know if I’m ready for that.

It’s been snowing the last couple of days just when I thought winter was over. We had a green holiday but I guess winter comes every year. At least I have three days off now so I will be enjoying the snow from inside.
