While we wait

While we wait

It has been 9 long months but the wait is over. And while I waited for my little baby girl to arrive, I found myself doing various tasks around the house to get the time to pass. As I went along I added things to my to-do list and every time I added something it seemed as if I would never get my list done.

Cleaning the house – several times. Including washing the windows on the inside and outside. Washing our sofa cover. Cleaning the entire kitchen, inside and outside the cabins. And the usual dusting and vacuuming.

Washing baby clothes. I still had some clothes from my son that I though were unisex which I dug out while I simultaneously went through his old clothes and gave some away for donation. I also received a lot of clothes from colleges that needed a wash and some new clothes I bough just for our baby girl.

Sewing. I actually did quite a lot of sewing while I waited for the baby to arrive. I had a list of things I wanted to make and it was a perfect time to get around to it since I had a lot of spare time on my hands. The only tricky part was getting around to cut out all the fabric since my belly was mostly in the way. But I did manage to make a jacket, a bedsheet and up-cycling some old clothes.

Baking. Now I wish I did more of this but manage to make a cake or two, one of which was a delicious carrot cake.

Colouring my hair. The last week I was really bored and scratched my brain to find something to do. I got more and more sick of seeing my dull hair so I ordered some hair bleach and colour. When my products finally arrived I took my hairdressing skills to the test and changed my hair.

Making YouTube videos. Now I knew I wanted to have a little break from filming when the baby arrived so I decided to pre film a couple of videos which I will post soon.

Packing our hospital bag. I waited till I was 35 weeks pregnant to get on with packing the hospital bag. If you want to see the content of my bag I will leave the video link here.

Giving my son a hair cut. Yet again I found my hairdressing skills come to use and actually managed to cut my sons hair twice before the baby arrived. I love seeing him with short, clean cut hair – it makes him look so fresh and young.

we heart it

That’s how I spend somewhat of my time waiting for our baby girl. I also had some shifts at work when they needed me and spent a lot of quality time with our son. Now a new routine awaits us and I’m excited to see what that will mean.

Last day of 2017 – recap

Last day of 2017 – recap

15 minutes before midnight and here I am sitting on the couch writing a recap post. 2017 has been a wild, chill, amazing, heartwarming, difficult and hard – and once again I’m taking a look back at the past year.

Last Day of 2016 – I ended and started the year with my mum, highly pregnant, walking around trying to catch the fireworks at 12. It was a lot like today, cloudy and roads covered in snow. We actually didn’t find a good spot to look at the fireworks, but we did see some. And after a short, but tiring walk I made my way home to my bed.

15th of January – The most amazing, heartwarming, incredible day of my life, and of 2017. I gave birth to my baby boy. He’s soon turning 1, and I can’t believe how I found the strength to push him out without any medication or drugs. This was hands down my proudest moment & the highlight of my year!
Surprise Birthday Party for 2 – Surprised my mum at home with a clean house and her favorite cake. I stayed and celebrated her belated birthday whilst we ate carrot cake and she opened presents.
Summer 2017 – First summer i tried wearing the hijab, and it was a success! Not as hard as I thought it would be. Abayas became my new best friend and light chiffon scarfs as well.
22nd Birthday – I gave birth at 21, but 7 months later I turned 22. If you haven’t seen it you can watch my «22 things I’ve learned the last 22 years».
2 Year Anniversary – This day lies close to my heart because it’s the day I said my shahada. Nervous and anxious, but the best decision I have made.
Roadtrip to Gothenburg – I was eager to travel the whole year, and finally at the last end of November we decided to take a roadtrip – my mum, my son and I. We had a wonderful stay in Gothenburg, spending most of our time at Liseberg, Universum and in the car, of course.
First day back at work – After 46 weeks at home I had to say goodbye to my baby boy, at least for a couple of hours, and go back to work. After a couple of days and haircuts, I was back into the old routines.
Dinner with the fam – 23rd of December, a day before Christmas Eve here in Scandinavia, we all meet up at my brothers apartment and had a wonderful homemade buffet and played games long over midnight.
Last day of 2017 – Today I continued packing for tomorrow, and also meet up with my mum yet again for a New Years Eve dinner with my son. Now 1 year later he could join us and it was a full circle experience.

A new year is on it’s way, and this year we get 366 days of creating and writing our story!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Friday

Friday

I’m overwhelmed by the things I have to do and book before Monday. Can time please slow down a little bit? I’ve had something to do almost every single day after work and it’s been quite exhausting. So this 5 day holiday will come good in hand once it arrives.

I usually start packing a good week before my take off, but now I’m pushing it to the last minute. Sunday is going to be my packing day and hopefully I won’t forget anything. When I do pack in advance I always have time to re-pack and to change things. Debating on weather I should rent a taxi from the airport or take public transportation to the hotel. Even though it is quite pricy, I do like the idea of a personal pick up.

I’m still in my PJ’s so now I’ve gotta go. I’ve got a late shift at work today, last one this week, and then an early morning tomorrow.

The day before

The day before

Almost done, sitting on the couch at the moment waiting for the first layer of nail polish to dry. Everything has to be perfect, or near to perfection at least.

Wait, let me take you back to the beginning because I don’t think I’ve told you. I’m going to GREECE! Yahoo, finally! Seriously, it’s been long over do because this has been a dream destination of mine for a long time. Tomorrow evening I will land in Crete, hopefully warm weather will meet me and a beautiful city.

I feel like my heads going to explode though because I have so much stuff to do before I leave. But the packing is so to speak finished. Now I just have to clean the hall and my room, make some food and then take a long, hot bath. My cold is not quit gone so I just have to take it easy and not stress so it won’t get worse.

I should get going then. Speak to you soon, maybe in Greece.

Finally vacation

Finally vacation

Could life me any more perfect right this moment? It’s not even a question, cause it’s perfect. Everything has fallen into place and everything will only get better from here, I just know it. There’s nothing stopping me now and I’ve got 3 long and wonderful weeks of vacation ahead. All I have to do now is to get into the right holiday mood and dial back like a 100 times to vacation mode.

I couldn’t wish for anything better and it’s been a long time coming but the time is finally here. Tomorrow the only thing to do is to go through my bag again and see if I have everything and maybe do some last minute shopping. I can’t wait for Monday but I’ll miss my boo the next weeks so hopefully the time will go a little, but just a little bit fast so that I can see him again. Other then that everything is falling into place.

Good night beautiful world. Exhausted after a long summer working, my bed is waiting.

Last-minute planning

Last-minute planning

So I actually planned on a late workout outside this evening but the thought of sitting inside right now suits me very well. The fall breeze is already here and because I don’t have any good clothing for outside workouts, I think I have to sit this one out. Though I think I’m going to be planted in my seat in front of the screen the next hour or so. I have several last-minute planning to do before my vacation officially starts on Monday. And if you know me, you know that I like to have everything set and ready a good time before I leave. Like I’ve mention before, my luggage is already packet, only a few more details left. Two more days at work and then I have a 3 week-long vacation ahead of me. Oh, I can’t wait for Friday to come any sooner.

I’ve packed and flown so many times before but every time I think about things I might have forgotten, so I think I’m going to make a list over things I’m taking so that nothing goes missing. Tomorrow I’ve got an appointment to fix my nails and on Monday a little last-minute pampering on the agenda. Hopefully the weather will agree with us on our holiday cause my luggage is packet with dresses and short shorts. We’ll see.. *crossing my finger*.

Now I’m off, my bed is calling me soon.
Good night, beautiful people.

Packing it in

Packing it in

I know I still have a couple of days left till I’m off to Florida, but those who know me know that I can’t wait to pack my suitcase and get going. I often start 2 weeks beforehand. Thinking about what I would like to take with me, planning outfits, buying the last clothing or beauty articles. This time though, I must say I’ve made myself proud. My suitcase is already packed with half of it empty. I always pack too much and since I know that it’s going to be cheep in America, I’m sure that my suitcase will fill itself up along the holiday.

Since I’m only in Miami for 1 week I’ve packed light. I’ve Limited myself to 1 shorts, 2 skirts, 4 tops, and 2 long pants and sweaters for the rest of the days in Berlin when I get back.

Now I’m off to shoot a packing video, but first a sneak pick of what I’m taking. Stay tuned on YouTube for my video, MylifElizabeth

Already getting started

Already getting started

As you may know I love to travel and get butterflies the day before the departure. I can hardly sleep and go through all of the things I might have forgotten to pack. But packing is one of the best parts when going on vacation. A month before I already look in my closet and find things that might be suitable to take with me. And it just wouldn’t be right without a few new clothes, so I go shopping and make sure that those clothes can be worn and taken with me on my summer holiday. A week before I dust of my suitcase which hasn’t been used since last summer but that doesn’t matter cause now it’s finally time to pre-pack. Yes, pre-pack which basically means I find clothes I want to take with, put them on my bed, then sort out pieces that really aren’t necessary to take with and you can just forget that I’m taking the same clothes I took last year. No, this year I will have a whole new wardrobe with me on holiday. Then I pack down those things I feel worthy of taking with me and then the day before I have to close my suitcase I go through my clothes ones again. Just to make sure that I have everything and also to take out stuff I really don’t need, cause everyone knows that girls always take too much with them.
So here are just some things I want to take with me this year. I still have to find my travel outfit, but I have narrowed it down to two choices.
