New years eve is always this big fuss and you’d think it will be a huge moment when the clock strikes twelve but most often than not it’s just another minute passing us by. Suddenly we’ve past a decade and looking at the fireworks welcoming a new year. Beginnings are always nice because they mean a fresh and maybe even different start for so many. But at the end of the day it’s just a new day that welcomes us. We are lucky to witness it and we should count our luck and be grateful for another year.

Do you have any new years resolutions – if so what are they?

My hospital bag – What I needed & wish I had

My hospital bag – What I needed & wish I had

What I actually needed:

  • A change of clothes – A definite must! I packed a nursing top, a big jeans shirt and a black long sleeveless dress and also some comfy mom pants.
  • Nursing top & bra – For some this isn’t necessary but for me it’s super practical and I basically lived in my nursing top. The last day I changed and used the bra with my shirt.
  • Trousers & socks – Of course this is an essential. I had 2 pairs of underwear and 3 pairs of socks which was just the perfect amount.
  • Toiletry – Everything I packed here I actually needed. Toothbrush and toothpaste. Hairbrush, extra hair tie, body wash and a facial cleanser. Nipple cream was very helpful the first days and also bra pads.
  • Power bank – I could’ve just taken my charger with me but I thought a power bank would be smaller to take with and more easy to use whenever I would need it.

What I wish I took with me:

  • Slippers – Now I only had my sneakers with me when we came to the hospital and I totally forgot how difficult it would be to get in and out of these once given birth. I struggled multiple times to get into the shoes since it was difficult to bend over. That’s why a pair of slippers would have been perfect to roam around in.
  • Baby wipes – I thought one small pack of wipes would be enough, but they hardly even lasted till the second day. As my memory failed to remind me that the hospital only had big, dry wipes that you could wet with a bit of water. Not always as optimal to use when changing a newborn.
  • A magazine or book – I didn’t think my entertainment would be an issue, but when I found myself alone in the room, after flicking through the TV channels several times, I do wish I had something more to look at.
  • A big hoodie – The hospital rooms were surprisingly cold and I could defiantly have used a big hoodie with a zipper in front.
  • Another big button down shirt – I practically lived in the one shirt I brought with me because it was so cold and I didn’t have anything else at hand. A change of shirts would defiantly come in handy.
  • More baby clothes – Since we get to borrow clothes at the hospital for the baby, I didn’t think it would be necessary to bring too much clothes for the little one. But after having an accident on the new PJ, hat and a pair of socks, I would recommend to take another hat, a body with long sleeves and a second PJ.

In desperate need of sleep

In desperate need of sleep

What was suppose to be a stressless evening turned out to be far from that. My own fault really, cause I always get so invested in projects I do and have zero patience with myself. I always wish that I can learn everything at once and it just works right away, but it usually never does.

Today I spent my hours from 8 pm till now in front of the computer. Actually two computers. Photoshop on one and YouTube on the other. I was determined to finish a new profile picture, channel art and a watermark.

I’m only 100% happy with the new channel art, the other two I still have to tweak and fix. Other than that I have a headache and I’m in desperate need of sleep. But I guarantee you, I’ll be laying in bed another hour before I fall asleep. At least that’s what happened last night.

Good night

A gold cup of coffee

A gold cup of coffee

Yesterday was a lovely, relaxing Friday. I actually love the beginning of the weekend, starting my Friday of by listening to Surah Al-Kahf. I felt a little bit extra after filming my Sunday video so I pampered up and went out to the playground. My son loves it there and he’s become so active, wanting to walk around everywhere. After an hour there we made our way back home.

His nap was long over due so I tucked him in and started making dinner. In the evening again we made our way to his grandfather aka my father. He always starts of really shy but when he’s warmed up and used to the environment he is his own self – playing, walking and talking.

This was yesterday brunch, sipping a cup of coffee from my new gold mug. My mum wanted to spoil me a little when we were out shopping on Wednesday, and even though I actually didn’t need these cups, they looked so inviting and great for pictures. So I got two and they have both already been in use.

Today I’m thinking about talking a stroll out to the playground again but first I have to edit tomorrows video. I’ll be sharing my tips on how I lost my baby weight and how to start working out again after having a child. After that video I’m done with baby talk for a while and will be back making ‘day in the life’ or fashion/beauty related videos.

I hope you have a great weekend!

When your living room is looking like a playground

When your living room is looking like a playground

The last couple of days have been stressful. With a little crawler here at home you have to get extra alert. But now that I’ve finally bought some baby proofing it’s safer to crawl around. I never knew how fast you could get to places when you’re on your stomach. But it’s of course fun to explore everything new around you. My living room is definitely looking like a playground and my inner neat freak is freaking out a little, but I know everything will be nice and cleaned up again in the evening.

Yesterday was just super hectic. The day started off having to drive into the city early in the morning to try and fix a passport. Luckily I’m getting mine renewed but we have to find a different solution for the little one. At least I have today off so I might go shopping and hopefully I’ll be able to film another video for you.

Here are some snapshots for this week. Don’t forget to check by my YouTube channel where I try to upload as much as possible. I’ve also ordered some new equipment from Amazon so hopefully that will arrive soon. Fingers crossed.

The best feeling in the world

The best feeling in the world

..is when you can check off your to-do list one by one.

todo

The day started off an hour earlier then planned and after only six hours of sleep with a list that was half a mile long. I did make a very specific list the night before, hour by hour, instead of just listing things up and not knowing when I would do them. This can be a great way to plan out your day in advanced, especially if you want a lot of stuff done.

My original plan was to go back to sleep from 10 am to 12, but after an intens leg workout my energy level was up in the sky and there was no way I would fall back to sleep.

I got a bit delayed midday but at the end I managed to pull through.  With a one hour nap in between it was safe to say that my energy level was running low at the end of the night. The next couple of days I just have to continue on with my work and try to catch up on some sleep as well.

Late Sunday breakfast

Late Sunday breakfast

Today started off quite late but I guess thats allowed on Sundays. I fell back to sleep after being up from 8 to 10 am. And we all stayed in bed till 1 pm. Just about right for the weekend I think. Other than relaxing today, I’ve cleaned my car and put on a load of laundry. I’m planning on doing some creative work but I just have to get started with it. That’s always the hardest part, actually start with any project. Once I’ve started I can go on for hours.

I did plan on doing a workout as well but I think that has to wait till tomorrow. My body is extremely sore so I’ll take today as a rest day. I’ve also posted a new video on YouTube, so if you’re interested and have seven minutes to spare, you can check it out right here.

Happy Sunday!

Never my intention

Never my intention

I’m sitting here on the floor waiting for my new video to upload to youtube. It’s challenging having both a youtube channel and a blog to maintain because I feel like one or the other get forgotten, but that’s never my intention.

I really wanted to step back in Ramadan and not post anything meaningless. But now that we’re back in our everyday lifestyle it’s time to get back into some old routines as well. Leave your bad habits behind and focus on the positive. Take with everything good you’ve learned this Ramadan and implement it in your daily life.

For me that is working out and eating regularly and more healthy again. I usually don’t crave any sweets anyway, but I’ve missed the working out part. I’m already sore from yesterdays leg workout. I also want to make more videos but I won’t promise anything I can’t keep. Other than that there are some projects I’m working on here at home that I’ll hopefully be able to share when they are done.

First workout

First workout

It’s been a good while since I’ve put on my workout clothes and worked out. During my pregnancy I worked out two or three times. Other than that I’ve just looked after what I ate. Staying hydrated and eating healthy, moderate meals. Now that my pregnancy is over I want to start my fitness journey again.

I was a big fan of fitness centers and trained several times a week. Now that I have a baby I want to incorporate my workout routine into my stay at home mum life. Already two weeks after my delivery I felt ready to start working out gain. But all the doctors , midwifes and other mums suggested to wait at least six weeks. In the mean time you should go for long walks. So I did, but yesterday, after five weeks and one day I couldn’t wait any longer. So I browsed through my workout playlist on YouTube and did a twenty minute post natal fitness routine. This was so tough though and I could feel my body was out of shape.

Now I’m sitting on my couch struggling every time I have to get up because I’m so sore. I know tomorrow will probably be worse, but I can’t wait for my second workout. The key for me is to stay motivated and change up my workouts so that I won’t get bored and quit. After all this is a life style and not a diet.

Story of my life

Story of my life

You know what I’ve just found out? You can almost never plan anything when you have a baby. Today my plan was to make a YouTube video after a long, long time. I started setting up my camera, finding the right light and position. But before I knew it I had to rush towards a cough and cry, and in that moment knocked over my tripod and camera. It flew to the floor and landed under the bed. When I came back I couldn’t get the power on which probably means that it needs to be shipped to reparation. Then after a feed and diaper change I tried again, now with my iPhone. I found the right light and position with the baby next to me. And to my surprise I didn’t manage to film more than a minute due to lack of storage. Story of my life. Now the last solution was my MacBook, but after filming with the webcamera, it’s neither HD which it said it was and the sound is rubbish. So goodbye YouTube career. Maybe this is the univers telling me to stick to writing?

I’ve lost all the motivation that I woke up to this morning. And it doesn’t help that it’s grey and foggy outside. I have to try and turn this day around. At least I have good company.
